Saraswati Ganpat Patil Vidyalaya, Kelthan
The low-ground-floor classroom block of Saraswati Ganpat Patil Vidyalaya, Kelthan, serving children from the surrounding rural community from Grades 8 to 10, was severely damaged by recurring monsoon flooding in 2020 and 2021. When the school management approached Nitin Orayan for support, he took up the redevelopment as a mission.
Working with the school community and partners, he helped mobilise support and fundraising to transform the damaged structure into an aesthetically rich, sustainable and child-friendly learning environment. The redevelopment reached a major milestone in January 2024, creating a renewed educational space for children from villages around Vajreshwari.

A New Chapter at S.G. Patil

On 7th August, Learning Space Foundation marked the beginning of Phase 2 construction at Saraswati Ganpat Patil Vidyalaya, Kelthan (Vajreshwari), with a Bhoomi Pujan ceremony. The new Skill Development Centre and Academic Readiness Hub will equip rural students with vocational skills, digital learning, and career-focused opportunities for a brighter future.

On 18 June 2026, Learning Space Foundation inaugurated the first floor of the Skill Development Centre at Saraswati Ganpat Patil Vidyalaya, Kelthan (Vajreshwari), Palghar. Creating SafeSpaces for
Adolescent Girls
Recognising that inadequate sanitation and privacy can become significant barriers to adolescent girls' education, Nitin Orayan and Learning Space Foundation developed SafeSpace — dedicated girls' restroom and sanitation facilities designed for rural schools. The initiative goes beyond constructing toilets. It creates safer, more private and dignified spaces while supporting menstrual health awareness and helping girls remain engaged in education. The project received the Indian CSR Award 2023 for Best Women's Hygiene Project of the Year, recognising its contribution to rural girls' health, dignity and education

A Space for Compassion
In 2014, Nitin Orayan supported the establishment of a shelter for stray dogs on local farmland in the vicinity of Learning Space Foundation. The initiative emerged from a simple concern for the welfare of animals living without safe shelter and care. The shelter provided a safer space for stray dogs while encouraging compassion, responsible care and coexistence within the local community. It reflected Nitin Orayan’s broader approach to community development—identifying local needs and bringing people together to create practical, meaningful solutions.

Early Childhood Development
Nitin Orayan's work in rural education has extended beyond conventional schools to the earliest years of childhood. Through Learning Space Foundation's Early Learners Development Programme, Anganwadi environments and teaching practices were strengthened to create more stimulating, child-friendly spaces for young learners. The approach combined improvements in learning environments with capacity building for Anganwadi workers and support staff, helping make early childhood education more engaging and developmentally appropriate.
